The Greek Miracle: America’s Admiration for a Nation That Said No is a 250-page 9x12 full-color, softcover coffee table book by Gregory C. Pappas that chronicles the story of Greece’s pivotal role in World War II— through the lens of American media, politics, and popular culture.

Drawing from Pappas’ personal archive and inspired by the landmark Athens exhibition of the same name, the book gathers hundreds of rare photographs, posters, newspapers, letters, and artifacts that reveal how Greece’s defiance against fascism captured the imagination of the American public.

From Hollywood fundraisers featuring iconic figures like Bob Hope, Shirley Temple and Frank Sinatra and President Roosevelt’s praise of the Greek people, to dozens of political cartoons from U.S. newspapers and haunting famine images and postwar relief efforts, this book will offer a visual and historical journey through the admiration, solidarity, and enduring bond between Greece and the United States during one of history’s darkest hours.

Told primarily with hundreds of cartoons, images and short text descriptions, it is a page by page reminder— but also a lesson for younger generations, to learn this important history.

The book is currently in production and will be released in April 2026. Pre-order is required to reserve your copy.
