I brought back a very limited shipment of Heather Honey from Vrontes Aegean Hives, a family-run apiary on the island of Ios in the Cyclades.

Known in Greek as Eriki and locally as Reikomelo, this honey comes from bees that feed on the nectar and pollen of wild heather growing across the rocky, aromatic landscape of Ios. It is one of Greece's more distinctive and rare honeys: dark copper to red-amber when fresh, rich and creamy in texture, less sweet than many honeys, and finished with slightly bitter, earthy notes.

Heather honey naturally crystallizes quickly, creating a thick, buttery texture. On Ios, locals sometimes call it "honey butter."

This is not a regular inventory item. I personally brought these jars back from Greece after visiting the source, and quantities are extremely limited.

Only 30 jars available:
10 x 150g
10 x 440g
10 x 770g

Once this drop sells out, it's gone.

Tasting notes: Rich, earthy, creamy, floral, lightly bitter, less sweet than traditional Greek thyme honey.

How to use: Spoon over Greek yogurt, toast, soft cheeses, fruit, or warm bread. Add to tea, drizzle over ice cream, or use as a finishing honey for roasted vegetables, marinades, and cheese boards.
